WE ARE LOOKING TO HIRE: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR
The Elementary School Counselor is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing a comprehensive counseling program at the divisional level to support the social, emotional, and academic success of students and the school community.

Professional Requirements 
- Master’s degree or higher (may be in progress)
- Previous educational experience
- Three years or more of successful counseling experience
- Be fully credentialed or certified for their respective assignment
- Able to work within a team environment
- Commitment to a positive school culture and student voice
- Experience in an international setting desired
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the subject and related areas;
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills;
- Be able to work independently with little direct supervision;
- Accept responsibility and is self–motivated;
- Demonstrate strong work ethic to achieve academic goals;
- Display effective multi – tasking and time management skills.

Job Responsibilities 
- Be visible and accessible within the Elementary School and the school in general
- Be one of the important links between students, teachers and parents
- Collaborate as part of the ES leadership team in helping ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the school
- Liaise with MS and HS counselors as appropriate
- Work with the ES Principal, ES Assistant, Registrar, Teachers with scheduling issues
- Lead and facilitate the Student Study Team (SST) with the Resource Teacher(s)
- Support the transition for new students entering ES
- Conduct parent information sessions
- Help facilitate the orientation and transition of new students
- Intervene with students in need or at risk
- Act as a mediator for students when appropriate
- Be proactive in addressing issues of bullying, harassment, etc
- Promote and foster the ideals of self-­responsibility and self-­regulation
- Be a student advocate
- Help facilitate parent/teacher conferences
- Facilitate the implementation of the ES PSHE curriculum
COMMUNICATION AND COMMUNITY
- Communicate clearly and regularly with students, colleagues and parents (in accordance with the Effective Communication Plan (ECP) via emails, phone, newsletters, LMS, social media, face-­to-­face (usually the best mode) or other modes as appropriate
- Is present during school events on weekends and evenings as appropriate and in accordance with guidelines from your respective Principal
- Participate and when needed takes a lead role in special events such as open house, cultural nights, orientations
OTHER PROFESSIONAL DUTIES
- Attend any and all meetings with other staff members, students and/or parents as required by the school
- Participate in co­curricular activities such as athletics & activities, arts and service as available
- Be a strong role model and promote a positive and professional image for the school in the greater community
- Respond with sound, fair judgment to a variety of unique scenarios that occur throughout the school year
- Assists the ES Principal with the implementation of school policy and procedure
- Serve on a variety of working committees related to policy, student issues, etc. on an as needed basis
